Congratulations. Love it when one just drops in your lap like that. And it is a rule, by the way, that parts cars you find are generally better than the car you're trying to fix. :)
I just recommissioned a 90 245 for a friend- it sat all winter, with a dead, frozen battery. Turned out a muffler shop (think George Foreman) told them the alternator was dead and so put on a NEW Bosch alternator. Ouch! $350+! Big, american dollars, too.
Anyway, it made it home, then quit- dead battery AGAIN. Sat all winter, and I finally got to it last week. New battery, plus it needed a whole tuneup, had a few oil leaks, filthy breather and plugged vacuum fittings, filthy throttle body, bad AMM. It drives much better now than it ever did.
Well, I didn't get a car out of the deal, but I did score a MIG welder... :) Sometimes these things just work out for everyone!
Good luck with yours- (You can always SELL one, you know!)
