Tried searching the archives with no luck.

What years or models of the 242 came with a sunroof? I want to purchase one, but really don't want a sunroof, as I understand that they have less interior headroom and I am fairly tall, so I need all I can get.

    Hello,

    In answer to your question, almost every year and model of 242 could be had with a sunroof. If you don't want one, forget about a Turbo or a GLT. They all had one.

    I am curious though, factory sunroof's in a 242 only cut about 1/2 an inch of headroom off. I am 6-2 and with the driver's seat not even in the lowest height adjustment, I still have lots of room upstairs. The trick would be finding one with a sunroof and trying it one for size. Don't forget to play with the height adjuster if you don't fit.

      My 1989 244 GL has a sunroof, and I've never had a problem with headroom (I'm roughly 6 feet even). However, my head has hit the roof in several places numerous times in my mom's S40, which *lacks* a sunroof.

      Alright. I'm looking at a possible 242 turbo project car now (currently have a 240 sedan).

      I think the test fit is a good idea, as I'm 6'3" + mohawk. I was just noticing on the S40s, there is a significant difference in head room between the sunroof and non-sunroof cars, and I just assumed that 240/242 would have the same issues.

        I've had several 242's with and without sunroofs. Never had a problem. I'm 6' even but sit tall (short legs). When I went looking for a Focus, I had to pass on the sunroof.
