temperature gauge reads nill 200

Temperature guage is not moving at all. Is this one of the symptoms of a bad compensation board?

Also, before you spend money on a comp board, or time on jumping it, check your guage by disconnecting the yellow wire from the sending unit under the intake on the driver side of your engine block. With the ignition switch in the "on" position, touch the end of the disconnected wire to the engine block. As I recall, if the guage is good, the needle should go upwards to hot. If it just sits there, then suspect a problem other than the comp board, such as a bad guage.

If this test indicates a good guage, i.e. the needle climbs when the wire is grounded, then you should consider just operating without the comp board. If you want to keep the process simple, ipd (ipdusa.com) sells a kit for jumping the connecting pins, and getting rid of the comp board. It greatly simplifies the operation, and comes with very clear instructions.

Do you mean not moving from zero? Or not moving from normal operating temp?

If the gas gauge is OK, then yes reading nill is one of the symptoms of a bad temp comp board, especially if it is intermittent.

Before you spend the $40 plus to replace the board check it! I thought mine was bad and then I took out the comp board scraped the metal contacts with my finger nails and put it back on making sure that if was fully in place. It has worked great for a week. Try this method and let me know it if worked for you to.

I don't see the point in replacing that piece of junk. Just jumper it! It's free, and what's more, if you jumper it you will be able to trust your readings.
