Speedo Died 700 1990

Hi Everyone,
Does anyone know anything about these speedometer set-ups? My unit gave out last winter. I thought it was completely dead until I got on the highway. After about 20 or 30 miles of driving at 75+ mph (3200 rpm) it started bouncing around until it settled down and then started working again for the rest of the highway portion of the trip. Once I got off of the highway it stopped working again. This pattern would repeat. Each time I got on the highway for at least 20 miles ...whalaa!... it would work again. This went on until a couple of weeks ago. Now it won't work- even on the highway. Does anyone have any ideas? I'm hoping to fix this w/o removing the dash and replacing the unit.
Any enlightenment will be very much appreciated.
Don

Check the wires leading from the rear end into the trunk on the drivers side. BYW the correct spelling is voila( a french word for "here you go" roughly translated)
Hope you fix your speedo soon, my son had the same problem, he decided to fix it after a heavy speeding ticket(180 in a 100 zone= $389.).

    Enjoy
