Flywheel Needed 700

If anyone has or can get a flywheel from a 90+ (I think) 740 with the bosch LH 2.4 injection, not the older LH 2.2, I am looking for one and would like to buy it. I am in North Attleboro MA, If you're close enough I'll drive, if not I'll pay to have it shipped. No one around here has one, no junk yards or anything.

Thank You very much!

    Flywheel Needed 700

The important thing is the number of holes, notches {whatever you want to call them} and their placement on the flywheel. There were two different types with differing number of pick-up holes. I think the difference was Bosch or REX ignition. REX was always used with Regina fuel system and has a squarish coil as opposed to a cylindrical Bosch. This flywheel will go on in several positions but only one is correct at TDC. I believe when the crank is TDC #1 cyl, the wide space on the flywheel lines up with the starter opening on the block.

I'm fairly certain I have one but I'm in Colorado

I had a 1989 740 parts car that had LH2.4 so you may be able to push your year back a bit. I live close by to you over in RI.

Flywheel Needed (Stickshift), info on production years. 700

If I remember correctly, the Naturally Aspirated 740 vehicles got the Jetronic 2.4 system in 1989 (as did the 240s). However, the turbos held out another year until 1990 before they were equipped with the 2.4 system (identified by the inductive pickup sensor on the flywheel and not on the distributor, and also by the evolution from the 520 IAC Valve to the 516).

      God bless,
      Fitz Fitzgerald.

Thanks! How to tell if it's 2.4? 700

Thank you for that info, now I have a few more cars to look into when I go to junkyards tomorrow. How do i tell if a car is LH 2.4 and not LH 2.2 by looking at it, besides the year? I can't remember what the computer in the passenger footwell says on it.

        Thanks!

I believe it's the ignition system(not FI) you're interested in.
EZ117K has the pickup(and connector) in the distributor(this ignition came with LH2.2); EZ116K(LH2.4) has a pickup on the back of the engine, on the front of the bell housing.
If there's a connector plugged into the lower left of the distributor, it's an EZ117K.
