Broken radiator fan 200 1988

My engine-driven fan is missing a triangular piece about 1" x 1.5"
on the end of one of the blades. Probably sucked a rock into the
shroud or something. The shroud itself is fine - the fan isn't
rubbing it. My question is, should I replace the fan? Will the minor
vibration that a missing piece no doubt causes kill the water pump
bearings? Is the fan liable to fall apart and puncture the
radiator?

TIA -b.

Oh yes...yes it will, and I seriously doubt it...but with my luck it would come apart and get the radiator, hoses, A/C lines, both front tires...the blower motor and knock both back up lens' off.

I go with the others - replace it. Better safe than sorry. Any 240 at the yard will have a useable one. Or, you could use that as a perfect opportunity for doing that electric fan conversion! (Let me know if you want lnks to useful web sites for this project.)

The shroud is fine *until* another blade goes flying off! Best to get a new fan... and yes, depending on the magnitude of the unbalance, your WP bearings will get beaten up.

It's liable to come completely apart, and if you happen to have the hood open when it does, it could get ugly. Replace that broken fan.
