Headlights won't come on--at first they would blink off and then I could stimulate them back on with the high beam flash. Then, they'd go off and a short (dark) time later come back on. Now, no headlights except if I pull the stalk, the high beams flash just fine. My Bentley's shows a "headlight relay" stowed somewhere up in the dash--any pointers on locating that thing or how to troubleshoot?

Finally found it--squat, square metal Bosch relay #0332015012 with 5 pins on it--located on my '93 tucked up under the radio, of all places! Had to dissassemble the center console to get to it even though the dealer's computer page showed it generically located up under the dash on the driver's side, which is true for my '88. Same problem as on my '88 the 5th pin was fried--too much heat buildup inside the connector melted the plastic shield. Emery cleaned the connector & tightened it up prior to reassembly.

    If this isn't too late... 200 1993

... I think it's somewhere on the driver's side (inside). On the '86 it's tucked down inside the left foot rest "hump" on the far left side floor. They may have moved it by '93, but poke aound and look for the right wire colors, per your Bentley diagram (p390-62, grid C-5, item #124).

Bruce--not too late, yet. Thanks for the info....confirming that there is a separate relay inside the car for the headlights helps me a lot in my search. I'll check it early am tomorrow & let you know what I find.

The headlight relay is a silver box, maybe 1" by 2", mounted near
the battery (just aft of it, I believe).

Actually, that's listed as the high beam relay, and it is the one that works fine--nice click when the stalk is pulled and the lights come on (high beam), and then go off when the stalk is released. There's got to be another relay in this circuit, but I don't know where to find it.

The relay's flash function might be fine, but it mightn't be passing
current for the low beams. Other problem areas might be your
headlight switch or even the ignition switch, but these culprits
seem less likely because you said that you could occasionally force
the headlights to work by playing with the high beam lever. Also,
just for kicks, check the headlight fuses.

Thanks......actually, I've tried a new replacement for that relay--still no low beams--so I know that one isn't the culprit. Is anyone aware of another "headlight relay" in the '93 240 models located inside the car? The Bentley's book shows one, but I can't seem to find it.
