Remember this thread:

Well...the story continues...
This car will be no more....yes I can hear the collective groaning, but it turns out that the Cancer ran far deeper than anyone thought, and the cost to repair was to much......SOOOOO....I have instead picked up a 97% rust free 82 body, have just finished stripping it, and it is in the process of being sand blasted, and totally stipped of it's aged paint.
I am having any remaining rust removed, and having the car painted a dark silver metallic.
We will then take all the parts/interior etc from Veronica, (the old ones name), transfer them onto the new beautiful shell, put in the brand new motor, and I should have one unbelievably beautiful Veronica 2. Granted no more original, no more 600,000kms+, but I will start a new chapter for this one...
Pictures will happen soon...and maybe I will make it down to the IPD Garage sale...if it's completed...fingers crossed.

Cheers,
-Phil

Hey Phil.

Speaking of bricks that look remarkably similar, I have what could almost be the twin sister of your Veronica... or at least a little more stock version of it. Same year, model, color... hell, I even take it to the same garage when I'm not doing the work myslef. I was wondering what you're going to be doing with the drivers side doors. I have a little cancer problem myself and I'm debating what I should do about it. Take care

-Forest

Hey Forest,
That's cool, I'm pretty sure I have seen your ride around Vancouver as it is a rare color...
As for the Driver Side doors, I believe you can have em...case o beer, there is some rust in the seams, might be repairable? She's in Nick's shop at the moment, for at least another 2 weeks, so if you wanted to drop in and have a look, go ahead. There will be no glass in them or paneling, just the metal.

Let me know, shoot me an email: swellpeople@shaw.ca

Cheers
-Phil

Phil,

How much did the media blasting cost? I'm going to be restoring/repainting my '80 242GT over the next year and am thinking about starting from bare metal.

Thanks,
Bean

I guess it’s a bum deal on one end but a better future on the other end. I hope you can make it down to the iPD garage sale...you'll love it. You should roll down anyway, my 1980 245 looks remarkably similar to your old veronica due to the new wheels I bought from your friend. It’s really strange to see two old custom wagons that resemble each other.

Hey Ryan,
I wasn't aware that you had purchased the goldies, glad to see they have a good home! And knowing this, I have somethings you may be interested in, I was recently given, (last week),the center caps plus extra's for those wheels from the gentleman I bought my car from. Do you want them?
