hello,

First I would just like to thank everybody that helps me out, I really appreciate it. So I just had a quick question, I was wondering if there is anyway to eliminate piston slap. and can piston slap lead to anything worse. thanks.

You can eliminate piston slap by fitting new pistons to the bores if the bores are not worn. The bores are probably worn on a 14-15 year old engine. You can have the block bored and and install new pistons, and the piston to bore clearance must be within Volvo specs. Machine shops often don't like to fit pistons as tightly as Volvo specs, 0.0004-0.0012".

Do you know if the older style (longer skirt) pistons can be used in the newer "low friction" engines?
