760 Turbo won't run 700 1986

I obtained a 1986 760 Turbo wagon, 4 cyl., over the weekend. The car won't run (why I was able to get it). The engine will start and run for a short period of time, a matter of 20 - 30 seconds. If I attempt to increase the rpm's, the engine will begin to stall. Working the throttle will keep it running for a few seconds, 10 or so, but it will stop running. The gage shows boost pressure when I try to increase rpm's. I'm new to turbos and don't have any idea where to start. Can anybody give me some direction, where to start looking, what things to look for? Thank you.
Ron, Indiana

In addition to what the others have said...2 things volvos really are picky about (and seem to get a lot of) corosion on electrical connections and vacumme leaks...check em all. I got at least one screamin good deal on one because "it won't run" and all it needed was a connection cleaned...

Disconnect the amm...if it continues to run (crappy but runs) you're in limp-home mode and it may or may not be the amm.

BUT, it could be leaking hoses on the intake side somewhere between the amm and the throttle body. Check them all!!! But the prime suspect is the big one between the amm and the turbo. It's very expensive to replace too.

Remove it and check for cracks.

Check the connection behind the driver panel under the dashboard inside of the car, sometime the connection get corroded and fail (I have this trouble). Next if everything is okay you gonna have to check the air-mass sensor ... Hope will help if not, pray because it's seem to be an ECU problems....
