I just bought a used 1994 940 as as second car. After owning it a week I have noticed a rather nasty stone chip and numerous smaller chips on the windshield as well as some distortion when looking across at the passenger side when it is sunny.

I wonder if there is a trick that the dealer might have used to hide the imperfections such as a wax or clear coat application?

If I do have to replace the windshield is an outfit like Speedu Auto glass sufficient or does the beast have to go to a Vovo dealer?

I live in florida and recently had to replace the windshield in a 95 940. Harmon glass did a fine job with a factory installed clone for about $170. Three months, no problems.

While you can repair the stone chips to keep them from spreading and cracking, a new windshield is not all that expensive. The local glass shops are all very competitive.
