Temp sender wire - where does it attach to the harness? 200 1980

A while back, on my 1980 245DL (B21F) I was holding the wire that runs from the temperature gauge sender in the head when it suddenly broke free from the harness. Now I have the head off, and surprisingly the harness (it's the original) is in pretty good shape - I don't see any hole in the insulation anywhere. Can someone describe where I should look to find where that wire runs into the main harness? Or should I just run it back from the big connector near the firewall? Thanks

I would just run an external wire for it. I always stock washer pump wires in the shop for just this instance. The washer pump wires are a white wire that has the molded female end on it that you need to fit into that harness connector on the fire wall. Just crimp on a spade connector at the sensor and route the wire to the connector on the firewall and be done with it. It will keep you from disturbing a harness that may already be in a delicate condition.

I just replaced the harness on my 1980, and it connects to the harness midway under the injection manifold. There is a split in the black shething around the wire bundle that it slides into. I believe it goes directly back to the firewall connector from there, so if you can't find the hole, I suppose you could wire it directly from there...should be a yellow wire. If you have access to the harness, triple check to make sure there isn't breakdown, I'm suprised you said it was ok. Cutback some of the shething at joints in the harness and check.
