Trailer light wiring 900 1993

I had a local trailer supply shop install a Drawtite hitch & wiring some time ago, but just tried for the first time. I recently bought a trailer & found that there is a problem with the wiring on the car (I tried another known good trailer). The shop installed a Drawtite Modulite 18187 power module converter. IPD says that's the correct module to use. The shop says that the box may have gone bad & they will fix it. I'm affraid that they don't know their way around a Volvo & may make it worse. Is there something thats different about 93 945 that I can clue them in on?

Hi Brad, That is the right module. What are the problems? Maybe I can help.

With the headlights on, when the turn signal is used, all lights flash. When I say "all lights" I mean both sides, front running lights & tail lights on the trailer. With the headlights off, lights on the trailer work correctly. Thanks for any help you can give.

Does the problem happen with both left & right directionals? How about the parking lights (when they're off) when you apply the brake? It sounds a lot like a bad ground either between the car and traler, or at one of the trailer lights. The two questions were to help zero in on where to look first.

All things are as they should be untill the headlights are on. All 4 lights flash when a turn signal is used, & the taillights go dim when brakes are applied. During daylight the lights work perfectly.
