Hi
Gave my son the 91 940T, and we need to replace the drivers side headlight assembly. Car has fogs, but I would like to replace the headlight only.

Any good sources known for aftermarket - that are less than $100.

FCP Groton, our favorite Brickboard supporter* lists these:
HLPV710 Head Lamp Glass Only Left Side $85.00 Aftermarket
HLPV711 Head Lamp Glass Only Right Side $85.00 Aftermarket

That may solve your problem. I use clear silicone RTV to seal lights to the housings.

There's no more reasonable source for "new" that I know of.

FCP looks like the answer. Is there any special method to get the old glass off - any pifalls?

Prolly want to stick with a used OEM one instead. One is to match the "color" (age) ... the other is to match the quality. The aftermarket (usually Scantech) lights, though functional, are not always the best in workmanship.

The headlamp part is glass on the cars with integrated foglights. Coloring shouldn't be a big issue, pitting may be.

I've had really good experiences with www.car-part.com. They query databases for hundreds of salvage yards nationwide and claim to have over sixty million parts in the inventory. I've used it several times, getting parts from different salvage yards. Never had a problem. You usually can find a really good price, and they ship to your door. I think I saw this part for around $25 for the lowest price.
