Steering rods, B16 vs. B18 444-544 1961

I'm rebuilding the suspension on a customer's PV544A, last year of the B16-powered PVs. It desperately needs steering rods and tie rod ends (and a lot else).

Turns out the rods and ends for B16 cars are a different part number from the B18 cars, but we don't know what the difference is. Anyone know if the later rods will interchange? If not, anyone have a source for the earlier ones?

TIA,
--Phil

Try the following http://www.vp-autoparts.com Click on downloads, must have Acrobat reader on your PC. It will open their parts catalog. Select PV in English. Part numbers you want 89221 and 89222. It shows price in foreign currency. You can search for a foreign currency exchange rate site and estimate the cost in
US$.

I got some about a year ago from either GCP (Genuine Classic Parts), or maybe the other place in Sweden (don't remember the name but it is the place which ships it in such a way that you may have to deal with a customs broker guy). Anyhow, they are probably from the same source, just and don't let anybody tell you that they are not available. I have a brand new set on my 210.

Phil,
The steering rods won't interchange,I'm not sure about the tie rod ends. Until 61 the rods came with a grease nipple. I have a set of nearly new steering rods that were on a car of mine for about a month when the car and I had an icey encounter with a tree.
If you can't find new ones let me know and we can work something out.
Jim

Jim, do you happen to have the tie rod ends (or the whole tie rod assembly) from that car as well?

Thanks, Jim, but now I think I've located a set of NOS rods and ends... you'll surely be hearing from me if that falls through. For now, please don't go through a lot of trouble finding stuff.
