Fault code 2-3-2 200

My b230F has problems when cold starting. It hesitates to idle unless I give the speeder a gentle push the first few seconds and thereafter there are no problems.

I have identified the 2-3-2 fault code (fuel system compensating for ruch or lean mixture at idle) and according to the posted messages on the brickboard, the fuel pressure regulator could be defect.

However no fuel pours out of the hole in the front for the vacuum hose when it is removed and the engine is running. However a very weak spell of petrol can be detected from the hole. Furthermore I have tried to connect a petrol hose to the return line and a steady stream of petrol is running out of the hose.

Despite of the aforementioned, can the fuel pressure regulator be defect ?

Could it be that the return line is blocked ?

Any other suggestions ?

B.T.W. : The air filter and the fuel filter has been changed recently.

232 will show up for real reasons usually and silly reasons sometimes. look everywhere for a vacuum leak and check the exh for leaks from the engine to the cat convertor. if nothing shows up, then pull the fuse for the ecm, you didn't post a year. either it's next to the battery or it's in the fuse box. wait about 15 minutes and then replace the fuse. the clears the code and resets the adaptation. drive it and see if 232 pops again. THEN get it checked out by someone who can diagnose everything tied to the code. good luck, chuck.

Clean the idle air motor and throttle body. You do this by taking the air inlet hose off of the throttle body...spray, spray, spray with cleaner (we take a toothbrush and open the throttle, and scrub off the "lip" of ick.) Then reattach the hose, and run the car for a couple of minutes. It will be hard to start. Next, take the hose going into the idle air motor off of the air inlet hose (the one you took free to clean the throttle), and spray a "smidge" of cleaner in there. Push the hose back on the hose, start the car, run it for a minute. Do this several times. This is the sneaky easy way to clean the idle air motor. On the air mass meter, unplug it, apply electromotive grease to contact, and plug it back in. Hopefully, all will be fine now.

SEVERAL POSSIBILITIES, HOWEVER before you go to far, check the underside of the AAM to TB corrigated inlet hose. Very common to chaff on the underside and allow unmetered air. Also consider possibility of chaffed or cracked vacuum lines that may seal themselves when engine warms up. If you have not cleaned the Throttle body, it may be a good idea to check it. Don't discount the idea of cracked injector seals that expand and seal when warm.

I have found this problem tends to originate from the air side of the equation rather than the fuel side. Let us know what you find.
