inner tie rod replaced, but no locking mechanism?

I just did my inner tie rod ends and they came off with absolutley no indication of a locking mechanism. It's got the CAM rack. I went ahead and tightened them on with Locktite, but I'm kind of worried that I'm missing something that wasn't there in the first place.
thanks for the help...

inner tie rod replaced, but no locking mechanism?

I replaced the tie rod ends on two of mine last summer. There was no
notch so I used locktite. I figured that FCP Groton surely would not sell something that is a defective design. So far so good, but now I wonder...

There is no formal locking mechanism in the sense of a locknut or jam nut. There should be a washer with a tab that indexes with a notch in the rack end. Make sure that you reused the old ones. If you didn't, get a new set and install them befor you drive the car. Also, when you tighten the new tie rod, use a counterhold wrench on the last tooth on the rack.

    Good luck.
