IPD fabric dash covers 200

I noticed these are on sale. Anybody own one? Any comments/issues? Do the colors fade badly?

I'm thinking about buying a black one for my blue cloth interior (black dash). Should I consider the dark blue too?

Thanks,

Jim 90 244DL 234K

I have a dark/medium blue one which was on my son's 81 when we bought it. Why the PO thought a Blue cover would look OK on the Brown interior is a puzzle. My son pulled it quickly and it's in a box somewhere. It's yours for the cost of shipping, plus you'll have to make the little velcro tabs that glue to the dash to hold it in place. Contact me and I'll send a photo and you can decide.

Hey Bob,

Nice offer, thanks! For some reason, I can't access your email address from your profile. Send me an email at Great_Island@Hotmail.com and we'll figure it out.

Thanks again,
Jim

I have the IPD dash covers on my '88 240 and my '93 940. They fit ok and look good. It's a shame they can't make dash plastic that will not crack. I'd go with a dark color. The black on my 940 reflects less than the grey in my 240.

I should mention my daughter's 240 has a brown dash cover bought on Ebay. It fits fair but is ugly. The nap is too thick and soft. Does the job though.

IPD fabric dash covers Please God nooooooooooooo! 200

These things are damned hideous. Makes the car look like your grandmas buick or something of the like. There are some nice caps for sale on ebay all the time. Check into those. Properly installed and you can't tell the difference unless you get like an inch or so away. I've only seen black but they are easily painted and totally UV resistant. You can either pretend you're adding to the looks of your car or you can make your car look better. I always get comments on how great my dash looks and how they are surprised its not cracked. A lot better than, oh wow nice carpet on your dash that must be covering up some nasty cracks.

Plastic caps & fabric dash covers ... 200

Ummm ... they're not totally UV resistant, and they can warp/crack if exposed to enough direct sunlight.

Back to the original post ... if there are cracks going around the front edge of the dash, then the plastic caps are the only way to cover them up. If not, then the fabric covers are a good idea to lessen the chance of more developing.

FWIW, I have both the iPd plastic cap + a fabric dash cover on top. In the SoCal desert, it'll need all the cover it can get.

Hey Kane,

Silly question but what does FWIW stand for?

I have to agree with Kane. After going to all the effort to install a new dash in my brick, there is no way I am going to expose it to the So Cal sun. Besides, without a dash cover there is way too much reflected glare on the windshield.

My homemade dash cover made with boat deck carpet, and high temp hot glue, 6+ months in the hot Florida sun and no peel up.Custom formed and looks pro.

I have a tan one that I got from my uncle. He bought it from them some years ago and it has held up very well with no fading. It really adds a lot to the appearence of the interior. Definately recommended.

Fit is not so great though... not sure who made this one. Likely not IPD.

I had one on my 245, it lasted a very long time before the foam on the backside started to disintigrate. It's a good dash cover. I do prefer the mats from Dashmat that are on my cars now.
