    Door stuck 200 1983

I just had a door that had problems opening. Pushing in on the door while lifting the handle allowed it to open, as it released pressure on the latch. Afterwards, removing the inside panel, lubing all the internal mechanisms an exterior latch, plus adjusting the external handle free play according to Bentley made it work like a charm.

I had this happen. I fixed it by adjusting the position of the door strike - no adjustment to the in-door mechanism needed.

Forgive my ignorance, but what's the "door strike?"

Is it the hinge or latch or something?

The strike, sometimes called the striker plate, is the part of the latching mechanism that is mounted on the body.

the "Hook" on the door latches into the striker. The striker can be loosened and adjusted up - down - sideways. It is set at the factory, and IMHO is a PITA to get right "at home".

Sometimes you can get stuck doors open by pulling up REALLY high on the outside door handle.

Be careful though, it's possible you could damage the door handle.

    It's worth a shot though.

Once you get the door open, take the door panel off and see what's mis-adjusted.
