I need 242 carpeting 200

Awhile ago member "IO" asked if anyone had found carpeting for 242's. I have called the sources offered by the other members but have not found carpeting yet. In fact, two of the sources said the 244 and 242 carpets are the same. This information seems wrong, but, I am not sure. Can someone give me "good" information on this subject.

Also have a spare 230F engine with block failure... the block failed to keep the rods in it!!! Teenager's idea of maintenance is to put gas in it. (he is now riding one of those little gas scooters until he learns his lesson)

Check with your dealer. Last year I purchased 1983 244T carpet from my Volvo Dealer. It was shipped from Sweden and came in a large box. When I opened it, it was wrapped in plastic covered in years of dust. But, it was original carpet. It cost me $250. For the front carpet.

Everytime I ordered replacement carpet from auto carpet centers, it wasn't molded correctly or I had to cut the holes myself. I got tired of messing up. So, the dealer had what I need. They can check inventory in Sweden for you. My Dealer is Westside Volvo in Culver City, California. They have ordered and came through with vintage 1983 replacement parts for me several times. The carpet was great.

I found great carpeting at my pick and pull. The cars are recycled through every three weeks so you get lots of "new" cars to look at. Its not hard getting the carpet out from the wreck and that experience helps you put it in. While it was out I ran a carpet cleaner over it. Great looking carpet.

Don is right...all 2XX's carpeting are the same. 2- 4- 5 door..all the same. Oh, the wagon has narrow slits , which are folded behind the carpet. The slit allow the support stubs (for the rear seat to rest on, when down) to stick through. Other than that they are all the same. I've put a wagon carpet in my 242, a 244 carpet in a 245 (had to cut the slots). No problems. If you look real close you will see that the 2XX's have identical sub frames, they are all the same length, and width.

Bone yards are great source for carpets.

I've seen lots of good carpeting in boneyards. What color do you need?

I do believe the 242/244 carpets are the same. IIRC, the wagon carpet can be used as well.
