OD relay problems - 200

Hi Yall,

I recently had an OverDrive Relay problem, so I pulled it out and replaced it.

The problem I had was that the downshift gear light would not go off and the tranny would not go into OverDrive.

When I replaced the OD relay the problem went away...for about 3 hours...and then ~ voila ~ the problem was back and the new OD relay seems to now have the problem of the first.

What can be causing these OD relays to go bad?

Help appreciated in advance.

The above post by Art Benstein shows the wire from the OD relay as it exits the shift lever box under the car above the end of the transmission. It easily shorted my OD relay. After the connector, the line goes to the OD solenoid.

Did you replace the relay with a brand new one, or another used one? If it was a used one, you just picked up another with the same bad solder problem as the original. If it was a new one, then you probably had another problem to begin with.
