timing belt broke B230F - valve damage? 700

Called to get a T belt for my 86 740 and the parts guy told me that the catalog listed my engine as an interference engine meaning that if the belt broke it probably damaged some valves. I thought the B230F was a non interference engine.
Who is correct? Is my brick history or should I not worry?

      Yipee!!!!
Got a T belt wholesale from my bud at BAP $10
Very easy job compared to transverse engines.
Since the belt was broke I aligned the cam pulley and pullled #1 plug to find TDC on the crank. Didn't bother with IS pully since there were no marks left to line up and per the faq it is not critical. Fired up perfect. Warmed it up and retensioned and I'm on my way. Back on the road for $10. Knowledge is a powerful thing. Thanks to all for the help. Nothing like printing out the step by step with pictures and taking it out the the garage with you. The FAQ section here is awsome.
