repair manual on cd 900 1993

I have a haynes manual and one in the series of the volvo manuals. I have seen cd's on e-bay that profess to be manuals suitable for a number of different volvos. I'd be interested to discover if anyone has checked these cds out.

I bought one of those cd's on ebay. It has very useful info on specs. But, it didn't give me the repair info I was looking for with pictures to complete a repair or maintenance. It has info on 240, 740, 850, 940 and 960.

I bought one on Ebay and it was worth the money. It was by Mitchell. It is a little awkward to get around in. The electrical diagrams are quite useful. Since 900 repair manuals are not thick on the ground, although the Bentley 240 manual is helpful for many things, I think it's a good buy. I don't know if what you're looking at is the same as I bought.

The others are right about the Volvo manuals being best. I've bought a few on Ebay but they tend to go for as much as a new one. Be aware that much of the Volvo fuel injection and ignition manual for the 940 relies on special test equipment that you won't have.

What I am doing is using the Bentley manual, the Mitchell CD, and the AllData on-line service at the public library while picking up a few Volvo green manuals as they seem affordable. Also the 700/900 FAQ have proven invaluable. In fact I downloaded the entire 700/900 faqFAQ.

Fortunately, the 940 has proven very reliable once I got the throttle linkage back in adjustment and replaced the crank position sensor. Knock on wood!

repair manual on cd 900 1995

I just bought one of these cd's for my 95' 960.
    Overall it's pretty disappointing.
It definitly isn't as good as the Cliton manual I used to fix my Nissan pick-up.
At least it does show a few illustrations so I know were most things are located.
I've been using it in conjunction with what I read here on the board. I'm still in the learning phase about my 960 and needed a few pictures.
For the $28 I paid for it on ebay I guess I shouldn't complain.

    Dear Andrew,

Good p.m. and may this find you well. I bought one of these, thinking it might contain Volvo Factory Service manuals. Silly me!! It had a few diagrams, but not the detailed information needed to do things once, right.

The Volvo Factory Service manuals are the only way to go. Most manuals presuppose the user knows how to do the repair. Why such a user needs a manual is an unexplained mystery.

While the Volvo manuals aren't perfect, they're far better than anything else.

    Yours faithfully,

    spook

thanks for the feedback. The brickboard is truly a pleasure to use and the information for the most part excellent and professional.

Based upon the valued feedback, I'll invest in the bently manual and try the all data thing too.

Has anyone brought the parts repair sheets that have also been on sale on e bay from time to time that are advertised as giving the volvo part numbers for common parts that may be damaged in a collision. This I think would be very useful when ordering on line as a double check to ensure one is ordering the correct part.

      thanks

      andrew,toronto
