Modifying stock wheels. 140-160 1971

Hello all!
I just got my progressive springs from v-performance this weekend and installed them...WOW what a difference. My little old wagon really loves to pound through the cornners now.
Question: I am still running stock wheels and tires. I like the vintage look and am interested in finding out about widing my stock wheels to take a 205-15" Is this possible and any idea on cost? Any good shops to recomend?

Also: What's the difference between the "TC" and "HD" shocks from bilstein?

Thanks

Shane at IPD had his amazon wagon wheels widened in Portland, I bet he can give you an accurate price.

A 205/60/15 is can suitably mount on a rim as narrow as 5.5" ... which happens to be the width of what some 164 got equipped with. So there's an option for ya.

    140/160 stock rims in review.

stockton wheel can widen steel wheels as wide as you want, I think i heard it was around 100 a wheel.

Ooh....I know the second answer. "LOTS" Big difference between the two shocks. TCs are twin tube gas shocks that are valved for stock spring rates. HD Bilsteins are monotube (theoretically better, but debateable) and more importantly, valved for higher spring rates.

I've got V-performance springs on my 142 and the TC shocks can not handle them. I've got HDs on the way.

It hasn't started in the magazine....it will soon. You should probably just go ahead and buy a subscription...cheaper in the long run than newsstand shopping.

I see that you have some Panasport wheels on the way... I was wondering about the gold wheels you picked up at the Junkyard. Are you guys going to be using those?
Would you be interested in selling them? Where are you guys located anyway?
Just wondering... Send me an email or just reply here, eisenbak@onid.orst.edu
          Thanks!

              Awesome! 140-160 1971

I thought i'd give it a try... Oh well. Your 142 KICKS BUTT. I was looking at the SSAVE pics, and it is amazing. Very very clean, and it looks like the interior matches the exterior. Cool.
              Peace!
