Dont put a steak on this grill! 120-130

ok, the custom is almost finished now and I am looking for trim stuff. I really hate those common aluminum stock 122 grills and was looking for an alternative and came across this guys car in ipd classifieds (good deal too, $3500 - check it out). I REALLY like these grills and I need to know where I can find them. Does anybody have some? What year are they from? They look stock.

Also, if anybody has the passenger front side chrome door sill that holds the window wiper strip in good condition, I NEED this thing ASAP. Or, a whole set in good condition would be good as well (wagon).
Thanks,
Josh

Yow! Hey, that's my old car!

It's a 1963 model (titled as a '64 though) with a 1960 front section (this is found on the B16 models and has the thicker center area between the grilles). Grilles are oem for the B16 cars (the surrounds are deeper than the '64 style) with the center bars removed. I think they're the best looking grilles of any Amazon - cool deep induction looking things.

Sometimes I really miss that car. Dead reliable; always started, always ran, got over 30mpg with the adjustable djet box, VCS springs, ipd bars, urethane bushings, 14x6" American Racing Torque-Thrust D rims (rare as hell), 2.25" exhaust, lots of welded reinforcement by Bob Moreno - reinforced shock towers front and rear, reinforced sway bar mounts, reinforced lower shock mounts... the M410 has a short shifter and modified tranny tunnel. Handles GREAT. There's a writeup on it, along with an underhood pic here:

The guy I sold it to had all new floors welded in and got it painted green (originally black), then replaced the old Bilsteins with new Bilsteins, replaced injectors, a bunch of other stuff. The guy who has it now added a header and a bunch of other stuff as well.

Sometimes I really do miss that car. Like right now.

    *sniffle*

Please: somebody worthy buy this thing and give it the care it deserves. I'd buy it back if I didn't already have 3 Volvos.

    Best,

    Cameron

    Josh,

If you're talking about the green '64 2-door, those look to be regular '64 grills with the center bars removed.

I agree... though that green one sort of looks to me like its got a '61ish early nosepiece with the smaller grille surrounds.

What you need to find is grill parts from early B18 car... probably '62-64. I agree that they look much nicer.

ferrari grill on a volvo 120-130

i've always wanted to put an egg-crate style grill ala 60's ferraris on the 122. wouldnt be too hard if you measure precisely and cut slots in say 4 inch strips of metal.

That would look cool, and since the grilles would be flat, it could be done with straight stock (as opposed to the curved ones on early 1800s). Though I think 4" might be a bit wide... maybe 1.5" aluminum...

Trick would be getting it just right so the veins point forward even though the grilles are angled. Good thought though... I'm sure it could be down and look great.

        nice website matt 120-130

alternative power has always been an interest of mine. thought about putting some solar panels on the wagon roof to replace/supplement the alternator.

        best

Nice thought... but I sorta reckon you'd lose more horsepower pushing them through the wind than the alternator takes.... Definitely not an unpopular setup for RVers though.

That site ain't really mine... mostly my brother's work.

          cheers
