switching from power to manuel 200

I am working on a 1979 242, I am adding a 83 B21ft and redoing alot of the other parts of the car. my question is I want to change the steering rack which is power to a manual one. The power rack is a 79 along with the rest of the car the manual one is from an 80. I took the rack and the steering column but dont know what if any thing else i need to make this conversion go smoothly. Thanks in advance for any help.

As Skip said, the tie rod ends are different for the manual rack. You should change them anyway when doing this much work. Fcpgroton.com has them and new boots for a pretty good price.

I've also done the manual to power conversion. I have heard that the ball joints on the manual are different from the power steering version. Has something to do with caster and it makes the steering effort easier on a manual car (I think). Since I went from manual to power, it didn't matter. The ratio on the manual steering is greater than the power, so steering response is slower.

I can't say for sure on yours...But I just put a power rack from an 86 into a 76 that had manual steering, last week... the steering column and the rack was all I needed...it was a pretty easy swap after the degreasing and the PB blaster had a chance to work.
