Installing Turbo front spoiler on '83 DL 200 1983

So my dad came back form the wrecker, and had found a decent front spoiler off an '84 turbo to go on his '90. I quickly tok advantage when he found out it didn't fit on his, and claimed it as my own. BUT, now looking under the front of my DL, i can't see how this things supposed to go on. Are the mounting holes for it just plain ol' not there? Or am i missing some brackets? I guess i could just drill some holes, but does the spoiler bolt TO the bumper? Or behind it?

I guess i'd know all this if i had taken it off the donor, but since it was my dad when i wasn't there, i am in the dark.

The other thing is, it had the ambient temp sensor with it!!!!! That with my ambient temp gauge i found a month ago will finally tell me that ALL important outside temp!!

Any help and pictures would be great!

Thanks everyone

I too have the commando bumpers. I've wanted to alter or replace them, but lazyness prevails. My front bumper should have been a black one but a previous accident repair left it with a silver one. At the junk yard I grabed a spoiler. Turned out to be a later style. This opened up all sorts of mounting options. I chose to remove all the bumps and other high spots so it would be mate evenly with the bottom of the bumper. I also cut it in the middle and added a section to the spoiler to widen it. That way the spoiler goes all the way to the edge of the bumper. It wont win any concours medals, but once its paited black it gets the job done.

If the spoiler came from an 84, it should fit an 83 or a 90. In fact, the spoiler from an 84 is the same as the one that came on all the late models. It sounds like it probably came from an earlier car with the commando bumper, in which case it won't fit the later cars.

My 81 242 has the Commando bumper. When I got it, it was missing one of the rubbe extensions in the middle of the front, so I took the other off to match. Now there are 2 holes in the metal- not a big deal, but does anyone know why the bumper was made that way? Is it for longer eurpoean lisence plates, or would lights mount there?
