Check your radio and harness--starting in 1988, Volvo was switching over from the 9-pin to the 14-pin harness connector; you can find both in 1989 models, depending on when built. I have seen TD 6141s with both types of connectors.
Ditto, check your amp both for the pin layout, and for a part number. I don't have the part number for the HA 4120, but it sounds like a 4 x 20, and my notes indicate that it is a 9-pin with an integral 6-pin round din cord to plug in the "amp" socket on the rear of the radio. If your radio has a 6-pin round amp socket, any of the amps which use that socket are interchangeable for that purpose only, whether or not they have 9-pin or 14-pin harness connectors for power, speakers, etc. I'm presently using an ancient 2-channel volvo amp with a much newer CR-814, and a pair of older 4-channel volvo amps with an SC-901, for example.
Generally speaking, the wiring diagram for your car will tell you which wires in the harness connector perform which functions, and --if you are putting a 9-pin radio into a 14-pin harness, for example--the wiring diagrams for the car with the 14-pin harness will tell your what the pin functions are on the radio or amp. This is because of the design to allow for upgrades in equipment--all the 14-pin headunits are plug-n-play with 14-pin harnesses; ditto the 9-pin.
Try using the search function below and to the right with criteria such as "14-pin radio" and fiddle with your search; you'll find useable pin and wiring explanations there. Good luck!
