Alternator removal 88 240 B230F sedan 200

I've loosened the pivot bolt and anchor bolt at the alternator so I can move it, but not enough to completely remove the belts. Is there another step I need to do before the belts will come off?

Hello,

You will also have to remove the fan. 10 MM crescent wrench to loosen up all 4 mounting bolts behind teh fan. With those off, the fan and the spindle that hold the 2 belts to the water pump will come off as well.

Happy Bricking!!!

Tension on the belts is achieved by tightening the long bolt with the 10mm head. You need to loosen that bolt quite a bit to have the alternator pivot enough to remove the belts.
