Where do I find the color code and what should compression be? 200

Alright, two questions. First off, I need both front fenders for my wife's blue '85 240 wagon. There is a lady selling both front fenders off her parts car which is blue but not sure if it's the same blue. I know there was 2-3 different blues with these cars but I can't find the color name anywhere on the car, anyone know?

Second, the compression is pretty even between all four cylinders. They are all around 80-85 psi. ISn't that pretty low? It really is a gut-less engine which I'm sure is due to it being a 4 cylinder and having 203k miles on it (along with the heavy car). What should the compression be at? Thanks again in advance for the help.

That compression sounds low. All my 240 engines have had compression around 165 to 200 psi. The fact that the cylinders are even is good.

What method of testing compression did you use? I use a screw-in connector to replace the plug, have all plugs out, crank with fully open throttle, and give it about 5 strokes to build up pressure. The engine should be run briefly to get oil up on the rings first. The Bentley manual says 128 psi minimum.

It's possible you have stuck rings. I've been able to loosen them up with Rislone in the oil for about 3000 mi. then change oil and filter. When I've done this, the compression has improved. The fact you see oil on the plugs suggests stuck or worn rings or possible bad intake valve seals.

Q1: Look for the Vehicle Identification Plate in the engine compartment, close to the coolant expansion tank. The paint code is found in the second coloumn, usually a three-digit number (mine is 189).

Q2: I would be more concerned if there were significant differences between the cylinders. People use different procedures for measuring compression, each resulting in (slightly) different results, but I assume you measured all four cylinders using the same method.

Yes I used the same exact method for all cylinders. My dad helped me out. We were happy that it was pretty even across all four cylinders but I wish the compression was a little higher. I can tell there's oil getting past the rings from the look of the brand new spark plugs I just put in. But it's not smoking from the exhaust so it must not be getting too bad. Thanks for the info.
