High-pitched whistling sound - vacuum leak? 700 1991

At speeds over 35 mph, esp. at high speed, I have a high-pitched whistling sound that sounds as if it is coming from the heater vents, or somewhere in the dash - it is almost like the sound one of those high-pitch whistles for dogs make (can't quite hear it, but you know it is there). It always stops when the car stops. I replaced the heater blower motor a couple of months ago and have wondered if I didn't seal it properly, and also wonder if this could be some kind of vacuum leak.

    High-pitched whistling sound - vacuum leak? 700 1991

My 87 240 was doing the same thing for a while. Sounded like riding in a jet. It went away when the weather got warmer. I thought it was a vacuum leak from the cruise control or in the dash somewhere, but I was unable to track it down. It only happens when the car is moving. And the noise has stopped for now. I'll keep an ear out. Maybe some of the old vacuum hoses got brittle in the cold and leaked.
    Ben
