Forget eBay.... look at this moron here in Toronto!!! 200

G'day All,

We have all seen our share of louts and crazies on eBay lately, but here the insanity seems to have spread to the streets of Toronto. Check this link out:

http://www.trader.ca/SendToFriend/Results.asp?id=942055&adid=3466263

3 sad things here.

1) The guy probably buried himself in the car with bills that he can't possibly pay for.

2) The guy is a rip off artist trying to sucker punch someone.

3) This is the 3rd time this car has been for sale recently. Rusted, probably has big problems (reason for sale) and the front end is smacked in.

$1800??? Try more like $1.80 less a removal fee. Maybe I'll call the guy next week to see how the prospects are...

Happy Bricking (and lord bring us some rust-free bricks)

I guess you just like criticizing folks!

Where are you going to get a "mint" driveline for less than his price?

      Hehehe...

Picking at people is like a sport for me...

And as for a "mint" driveline, I would expect that it would be freshly rebuilt, sandblasted, painted, polished in sparkling show condition. Considering the poor condition of the rest of the body, somehow I doubt it.

Unfortunately up here good Volvo powertrains on rusted bodies are a dime a dozen.

      Cheers!!!

For that price,I wonder if he'll throw in a case of duct tape to keep the fenders on for the ride home?

It does kinda look like a basket case, but....

    (1) It's a free country (but getting more expensive)
    (2) There's a sucker born every minute

You are right, EBAY Volvo sellers have been insane lately! I wonder what is up? I bought a 92-740 last year for a very good price off Ebay. It has been a great car, but I haven't seen any deals since before Christmas. Oh well, I will keep looking for the next Volvo installment at Casa de Allard.

    See ya,

I got my '88 245 last June. The seller had an $1,800 reserve price
on the car, but since I had driven all the way out to central Long
Island from NJ to look at the car, he agreed to take $25 above the
final bid price if the reserve wasn't met. This turned out to be
$1,400. Due to some undisclosed floorboard rust-through (IMHO,
he didn't know about it) this price was reduced to $1,200. The
rust cost about $350 to fix.
      .
Moral of the story: don't worry about reserve prices too much. If
someone is itchy to sell, they will be amenable to negotiation.
      .
Speaking of absurd pricing, the '82 244DL sedan with 111k miles which
I mentioned a few months ago is still sitting at the East Hanover,
NJ Volvo (steal)ership. They wanted $3500 before - now they seem
to want $3900, but they're willing to go down to $3000. The car is
      fairly rust-free, but still...
      .
      -b.
