850 Service engine light on 1996

I have a 1996 850 wagon. The service engine light has been coming on for the last week. It comes on when the car is turned on and goes off 2 minutes after it is running. We looked in the owners manual and it says the light will come on every 10,000 miles and go off after two minutes until the car is taken to the dealer for a check up. I can fix this myself if anyone can give me some information on diagnosing the problem and turning off the light. I have already researched the archives but I don't think I have enough information to tackle the problem yet. I love Volvo's and this website. Thanks in advance for the responses.

    I think you need the reset tool which is fairly expensive, to reset the light on a '96. We just pulled the bulb on ours. But you should have asked at the FWD/AWD forum. This is mainly for the RWD cars here.
