Would appreciate any information on main fuel pump outlet fitting (1990 240DL) 200

Hello everybody,

I'm the (proud) owner of a 1990 240 DL sedan. Recently a discovered a leak in the small fuel hose that extends from the outlet of the main fuel pump to the inlet of the fuel filter.

The bolts/fittings are completely corroded by rust, so I will assume the "worst case scenario" and plan to have all the necessary back-up hardware just in case the bolts and fittings are unsalvagable.

My biggest question is any information for the fitting/thread type off of the main fuel pump - I'm assuming it to be metric, possibly some weird flare connection / banjo bolt?

Anyone that could help me out, thanks in advance.

I think that once you get the piece off and out you will find that the fittings will clean up fine and be useable. I would guess that the problem is the plastic line between the two connectors. Replace that will something that will stand up to the pressures created by the fuel pump and you should be fine. At any rate the fittings are specialized and the first place I would suggest looking if you thought you needed them would be the dealer.

This is the perfect time to replace the filter of course and the work you need to perform is best done on the bench. There should be a wealth of information in the FAQ's for the 700/900 series (in the drop down at the top of the page)as well as being available using the search function.

Be sure to replace the four copper washers associated with the filter change to help insure a leak free setup.

Randy
