Center Driveline Support Rubber?? 200

Sorry I hit the wrong button the previous message. My question is how much play or movement should there be in the rubber support on the middle of the driveline? My '86 with 200K+ miles has about 6-8mm ( 1/4" to 5/16") of vertical movement. The bearing is fine and u-joints are fine.I can see that the rubber support is loose although it is not cracked or torn. The spring is still in the low half to the crossmember.I can't find any reference to play or travel in the Bentley manual or Haynes. Maybe this is normal??? Any help or advise is appreciated. Thanks.

As long as there is no vibration or thumping under acceleration I would leave it alone for now. There is a good bit of movement even in a new support bushing. Dan

I had a similar situation with my 91 240, only mine was making all kind of noises to boot. I thought it was the center bearing and mount, changed those no help. With the new bearing and mount installed I had a good 1/2 - 1" "wiggle" I thought this can't be right, it was. It was a rear UVJ making all that racket.

Ok. Sounds like I will leave it alone. So some play is good from what I am understanding. Thanks very much. Now I will have to attack the bulging transmission mount..... its always something.
