Valve ticking...normal? 700

Hi all, I have an 86 740 turbo and when I bought it a month ago, I had the valves adjusted by a Volvo place (honest and reputable). When the engine is warm, I hear a ticking that sounds like a valve. I took it back and the guy said its normal to have some noise and it doesnt need to be adjusted again. Doesthis sound correct? Thanks ahead, Joe.
