Foglights, standard relay? Substitutions for stock relay? 200

I had some foglights listed on ebay off of an 75 gl, after a week I got no bids so I thought, well, lets check em out closer... I opened them and was surprized to see that the bulbs were good and the consturction was quality. The rattling I heard that I thought was a broken bulb was a loose heat sink thing. The bulb holder in ceramic, the face is sealed still, the reflection plate is crome and copper. I looked em up and cibie still make them (airline, or something like that) and they go for $82 apiece! I figured what the heck. I will put em on my car! So I pulled them, nobody is snagging these for $20 in the last 24 hrs!
Are they still made this well?
Back to my subject, can I use a standard replacement relay? just any one from a foglight I suppose... I do not know how to wire them...
Any advice?
chris

You can buy a relay with a mounting tab for about 4 bucks at AutoZone that will work very well. Then go to http://www.susquehanna.com/susq/other/auxlamps.htm to see how to wire it.

hey clbolt, great site! easy to do it myself, I snagged the relay off the same car that I got the foglights from today (nice as it has screw posts for connections) and was able to see how simple it was, but there is nothing like hard copy to keep me on track.... I am going to install my dual post oil pressure guage, and wire that, the foglights, the voltometer and an radiator temp wires all in the same harness as they all have to go the same place...
If I can only find a good ambiant temp guage and two senders, one for outside, one for my airbox! (I still don't know why the po's amm went south after 9 months... thought it would be clever to install a switch to select between the two senders to monitor the airbox thermostat from time to time).
thanks

Check out this page from Susquehanna Motorsports. You can buy a harness with relays from them or use their instructions to build your own.
