I would recommend Don Foster's plate over IPD's (having used both) because:
1) It's cheaper and easier.
2) IPD's is well-intended, but has problems (IMHO), considering that:
> The plate has a laser-cut tab which must be pried out to contact the Cam Seal.
> The kit says to "eyeball" the seal area to estimate how much to pry the tab out. (Ever try to "eyeball" the rear of the head?)
> The kit also says to pry the tab out with a screwdriver. But only a jeweler's screwdriver will fit the thin laser-cut, and would bend before the tab will.
I had to punch the tab out over open vise jaws (by trial and error) to get the recommended contact with the seal. Eyeballing and screwdriver were of no use.
IPD could have supplied the plate with the tab pre-bent to a fixed, nominal dimension that would ensure a good contact with the seal — with instructions to adjust, if necessary.
