150k on tensioner 700

My timing belt was recently replaced once I hit 150k. I recently found out the original tensioner should have be replaced also as a precaution. Is it possible to replace the tensioner without removal of the t-belt or must they be done at the same time?

You should be able to replace the tensioner without removing anything but the upper front timing belt cover. If you are careful and use some cable ties around the timing belt to hold it in place without moving relative to any of the pulleys, it can be done. Use a 3mm allen wrench in the hole of the shaft inside the tensioner spring to hold it in compression while you remove it. Installation is the reverse of removal, to quote our favorite Mr. Haynes!
