Voltage regulator,Bosch or aftermarket(HUGO) 200 1990

Tonight at the McDonald's drivethru my voltmeter gauge dropped into the red (10v) and driving home the dash lights came on a little(dim).
FCP Groton has 2 voltage regs.they have a Bosch($38) and a Hugo($24).
Should I go with the Bosch or is the Hugo OK?
The battery is fine by the way.I think the fogs and amp are too much...

The other day I ordered a Bosch from FCP for $44. It's the external one for an 81. I decided against the cheaper Hueco or Hugo or whatever it is. I was advised on the BrickBoard to get the more reliable Bosch. Mine should be here tomorrow. Hope it fixes my problem! Good luck with yours.

      Doug,
I think I'll go with the Bosch.I live in Maine and when I order from FCP Groton or eEuroparts the package usually arrives the next day!
What were the symptoms of your VR failure?

Symptoms are lower than normal voltage across the battery at idle and at 2500 rpm's, loaded and unloaded. The other symptom is a slightly glowing alternator light that gets brighter with each blink of the blinkers and when I use the high beams. Alternator has been rebuilt. I'm hoping the new VR will fix the problem. I'll know tomorrow night.

    it's Hüco (also called Hueco)

I don't know about that part, but when I once had these really weird no-start problems, I had a Hüco Ignition Module (transistor unit; the one in the front driver side on my '86 744) put in, and it created all sorts of other weird engine-stutter problems. I checked the part number and according to Hüco, it was right. Then my mechanic of the moment put in a Bosch unit instead and everything was fixed, simple as that. We were both surprised. He only charged me for the one Hüco part, thankfully; it's a long story. It could have just been a bad one, I guess.

I know it's a different part, but that was my experience ...
