Clutch engagement question 200

I have been noticing lately that the clutch is taking too long to engage. when fully releasing the clutch from 2nd to 3rd gear it can take like 1 to 2 seconds until it is fully engaged. I have not really noticed that is is worse in higher gears but I don't know for sure. Is this a sign that the clutch is dying or another problem. I have no experience with clutches so i don't know what to think. Thanks, Mark

    Clutch engagement question 200

    Mark,

It could be that you need a new cable. The old cable could be hanging up inside the sleeve due to corrosion or some other kind of shmutz in there.

I would think that if the problem were internal to the clutch (diaphram springs, worn pressure plate or clutch disc) you'd be experiencing some slipping, especially in the higher gears.

    Good Luck,

    Steve A-

I think if you were to get under your car and adjust the clutch cable, you would probably be able to fix the problem.

Someone else can tell you how to do this for sure. It's not hard to do.

    What year is the car?
