ECU question 200 1992

I have a 1992 Volvo 244 with B230F engine and Automatic and need a new ECU.
The ECU in the car is marked Bosch 0280000561.
I have been offered ECU Bosch 0280000951. Is this replacement compatible for my car ? Or do I have to find one with the identical number?
Any help in this is appreciated.

Actually the original one for that car should have ben a 951 , thats the improved one. the 561 is the older one.
    Yes they are interchangeable

Right on, Robert. Wonder what say the manufacture date on the sticker? I've found some pretty late-made 561s- they had the newer hybrids like the good 951s.

        ECU question 200 1992

My 91 came with a pink sticker 561, and I bought another one just like it from a 92. It seems Volvo must've been playing mix and match with them till close to the end.

And the answer is definitely buy the 951, if you're getting a decent price on it.
