Swapping an 8v motor in a 16v car? 700

Has anyone ever put an 8v motor in a 16v car? I just bent 8 of the 16 valves and I like the 8v motors better anyway. If I found an 8v motor of the same year, what kind of parts would need changing other than the motor?

yeah, get a donor car because there are brackets for all the stuff that hang on the motor that's different, also. accel cable, ps hoses, ac hoses, all kinds of bs. good luck, chuck.

My Volvo mechanic has done a couple such swaps. It takes quite a bit of work and parts swapping, but can be done. I believe the 16-valve motor mounts need to be cut off so that the NA ones would fit properly. Rob is right in saying that it would be a good idea to get a doner car and do the swap with the cars side-by-side. The most preferable B230 would be the '90+ version, with the '93-'95 version being the ultimate. All B230s are good engines, it's just that the later ones are a little more improved. I hope this helps!

You need the wiring harness, airbox, intake air hoses, AMM and computer. Best ot get the two cars side by side and see what's different. A lot of junkyards will deliver a complete car for not much more money. Worth asking.
