washer fluid reservoir for 940 900

I replaced my washer fluid with a homemade solution of apple cider vinegar lots of water, a couple Tablespoons of vodka and a shot of dishwashing detergent. Not that this caused the reservoir to leak, but the next week the reservoir leaked out all the fluid. I replaced the antifreeze overfill last year. I guess I'll have to replace the reservoir. Any suggestions on how?

If you have a 940 Turbo, you'll need to remove the airbox to get access to the washer reservoir. Removing the airbox is easy. Disconnect the 2 wire connectors (push in the spring clip to release), loosen the hose clamp at the AMM, and remove the bolt at the bottom/front of the box:

Now you can remove the airbox. You might need to wrestle with it a bit to get it out, but it will come out. (When you're putting it back, make sure the pipe that goes through the fender (with rubber grommet) seats properly.) After that, disconnect the washer tubing and pump wiring connectors, and pull the reservoir up and out.

You might want to remove & inspect the reservoir before paying for a new one. If you do need a new one, FCP Groton is a good source... give 'em a call if you don't see it listed on their site (www.fcpgroton.com).

Was it domestic vodka or imported? Perhaps that is the root of the failure problem. Considering it IS an imported car, maybe "Finlandia" should have been the choice.

My washer reservoir never sees anything but Swedish vodka (absolut).

Dear Bob,

Good p.m. and may this find you well. Of course you couldn't resist! After filling the car's windshield washer reservoir with vodka, presumably another reservoir was also filled? (:>)}

The real problem here is that the reservoir should have been filled with aquavit, the quintessential Swedish hooch.

Vodka is a Russian/Polish confection. It is fine to add to the washer reservoir of a Lada or a Polski Fiat. I'd not add it to a Volvo/Saab washer reservoir.

Yours faithfully,

spook
