getting stripped brake lines off... 200

I have a line that was stripped when i bought the car, im replacing the calipers and this line has to come off. it is stripped at both fitting which goes into the caliper and the one that attaches to the rubber hose. how do i get these off? oh, and i already tried a vicegrip.

This happened to me also, cut the metal lines just behind the nut, and remove the caliper from the car. Go to Sears, they sell a kit for removing stripped nuts.

It's a red plastic case with about 4 to 6 hardened sockets with a spiral cut design on the inside. You tap the proper one onto the chewed up nut and then it can be twisted off with either a large socket or cresent wrench.

They saved the day for me.

    Good luck,

      excellent point! 200

cut the lines, you will need to replace them anyway. I have the stripped nut kit from sears (haven't been able to use it yet) but have heard that it works great.

      screw robogrip....

Have you sprayed it with PB blaster??? Sears sells the 'robogrip' thos can work too, better teeth. besides that and the vicegrip, I dunno what to tell you cept to add more blaster and soak it...be sure to do a good bleed afterwards though in case some blaster got in the lines.

Have you tried heat. Get the nut red hot with a torch, then twist off with vice grips.
