Tranny, shifter, or something more nefarious 200 1992

Hi,
Got a '92 240 with a B230F and an AW70 or 71 - I don't remember which. But the problem surfaced a couple of days ago. Driving away from a stop, there is a slow creep instead of the usual response of appropriate movement. It seems as though first gear is working only half of the usual response. The real kicker is that happens in Drive. If I put it in "1", no problems. It moves off with its expected response. It's been a while since I've have a filter change or an adjustment to the kickdown cable, but I flushed the system with new Dexron III about 2 months ago. There is no problem with any other gears, just the anemic response from "Drive". Any thoughts?
MarcusA.

Have you checked your ATF fluid level?? after a while the tranny gasket on the bottom likes to get hard and leak, that is a common place for fluid to escape. You may need to add a qt or so.

Fluid was my first thought, so I topped it off. Or at least I got closer to topping off. I don't want to overfill. It's easily in the range now. Thanks, though.

If you look at a 'power flow' diagram, you will be able to narrow down your problem to one or two parts of your tranny, most likely only repairable after disassembly. THe good news is thhat manual low works differently, and by hand selecting gears, you likely have a very long time before being forced to work on/replace it.
