New fender preparation before installation. 200 1980

Finally picking up a brand spanking new L/F fender for my '80 242GT which got hit over the summer... Tried picking up a used fender from a 240 turbo but the moulding strip on the turbos is wider than on the GT. $250 from Boston Volvo after the discount.

I want to protect the inside wall of the fender from rust. Can anyone recommend a proper procedure and/or brand name products that I should use to undercoat?

Thanks,
Bean

      Thanks for the tips.

I spend forever on the internet looking for a place to buy the 3M Underseal Rubberized Undercoating locally...almost ordered it online for $13 + $7 shipping...figured I might call the local NAPA guys and to my surprise they had it! On sale, $7.50!
