Can I put an engine from 1991 244 into a 1989 245 (seized from failed oil pump) without switching any sensors?

If I decide to go the other way, would the front end (hood, fenders, rad support, etc.) from the 245 fit onto the 244? Thanks!

the front end is the same 86-93. good luck, chuck.

Your 1989 should be LH2.4 and your 1991 could be LH2.4 or LH3.1. if vin # ch's 6 and 7 are 88 then 2.4 else if 82 then 3.1. If the same you should be ok if different then AMM, throttle sensor and ECU are not the same. If pulling the engine with intake you would most likely have to change just the throttle sensor.

Just out of curiosity I checked my VIN and both my '86 and'90 have 88 as the 6th and 7th digit.I thought the '86 had the LH2.2.

Al,I just checked and the 88(in the VIN) means it has the B-230f engine,no wonder it's the same for the '86 and '90.

just found this in the Bentley on page 030-4.

88=B23,B230F (ex. LH3.1)
82=B230F (LH3.1)

Your 1986 should be LH2.2. If you have the Bentley check page 241-2. I have 2 1990's one with vin#88 the other with vin#82. The 88 does have LH2.4 and the 82 LH3.1. Verified this also with ECU and AMM #'s.

checked out volvoworld.com's info about VIN and it shows the 88 stands for engine.
