Pittsburgh, Kansas Volvo Yard? Anyone heard of it? 200

Has anyone heard of a Volvo salvage yard in Pittsburgh, Kansas? If so, is it a type of deal where you pull the parts off yourself, and how are the prices and inventory of 240 stuff. Thanks a million, will be making a trip in the area this weekend and would like to stop there.

Not a U-pick it yard. He buys from insurance and auto auctions, then strips and catalogs, sometimes sending a worker to Self Service yards to get hi dollar parts cheap then resells.

Some prices seem high but I've never been overcharged but I've usually just swapped something I had for something he had.

Be warned this the guy will rip you if you let him, I needed one Djet injector retainer and a couple of the accompanying washers, from Kansas to GA,all for a mere $30!!, get real!, needless to say I got it for half that from Voluparts in Atlanta.

I've heard of it and had an interest in going there but have not either
been there nor talked to anyone who has. Where are you?

I've ordered body parts via UPS from him. He starts way too high on his stuff -IMHO. Flat line him a fair price and if he screws with you walk. Call back for some thing else in a week and remind him you walked the last time and he will shoot you straight. He also likes to charge high shipping. Remind him we have crossed the US via horse, train, and plane by now so freight prices have come down since 1835. I don't know if he is too used to dealing with V90 yuppies or what, but his M.O. seems to be to make the day's profit all at once. Know your average prices and shipping before doing business. Otherwise all was on the up and up and the quality was good. Packaging was great.

According to legend; I was conceived about a mile from that Volvo lot during the height of the infamous Cuban Missile Crisis. Two Kansas farm kids in love making a baby so that our way of life and capitalism would survive the Red nuclear onslaught coming to Southeast Kansas. I know...TMI!
