No Start Condition, 1982 900 1982

1982 244, CIS injection, MPG ignition (chrysler). I have spark,I have fuel, I have typical bare wires at fire wall grey connector. Not sure of condition of wires under engine front. Engine turns over just fine, but does not even try to fire. This is a friends car so I do not have the total history. Both fuel pumps were replaced by a shop last month. I checked fuel delivery at the return line and got the specificed 1 quart in 30 seconds. After trying to start the plugs are wet with gas. Strong spark at cyl 1 when I tested it. Owner said when it was running it wanted to die unless you kept feathering the gas pedal. Could the bad wires be throwing the timing off enough to cause the no start? Any suggestions prior to my doing the re-wire job?

Check basic crank/cam/distributor timing. Belt may have jumped or lost some cogs, causing "good spark" to be at wrong time.

At #1 TDC, the Cam Pulley marks should line up, but rotor centerline should be about 1/4" past (CW) the notch mark (0°) on the distrubutor body.

There are lots of present and former 200 owners here, but you will get a better response if you post this in the 200 series forum instead of the 900 series forum.
